International Women Choreographers  Panel Discussion
Date and Time: Saturday May 27 6:00 PM
Duration: 60 minutes
Location: Cowell Theater LobbyGeneral Admission: FREE

Participants Include: Alyce Finwall (USA), Garance Marneur (France), Eve Mutso (Estonia), Raisa Punkki (Finland) and Alma Esperanza Cunningham (USA). Moderated by Rita Felciano

Five young women choreographers discuss how economics and cultural practice impacts the creative process; the approaches they have taken to establish a niche, home or business model for themselves in their home (or adopted) city/country; and have there been ramifications for the performing arts (and dance in particular) due to the rise of “national populism” as a political force. Why are women artists’ voices important in the current socio-political climate?

SHE WENT #4

SHE WENT  is a sensorial landscape of kinesthetic events, both fabricated and spontaneous that bring the viewer and performer into a shared experience.  Subverting the formal tools and container of dance to spot light the guttural weight and sublime of the female body, SHE WENT is an ongoing installation experiment that investigates the female form through the lens of feminist theory and popular culture.
